Faqs

1. Do you do weddings?

No. At this time I do not do weddings. I would be happy to offer you an engagement shoot

though! And I have been known to be persuaded to shoot the occasional SUPER SMALL elopement.

3. Do you have a studio? Do you do newborn styled shoots?

No, at the moment I do not have a formal studio set up. I prefer shooting you in your "natural

habitat". If I am going to do a newborn, I would prefer to come to you. Let you relax and take

some more candid shots of those quiet moment with your brand new baby. I know how

overwhelming and exhausting those first few weeks can be, it all becomes a bit
of a blur so let me stop time for a minute through my lens.

5. So... what types of sessions do you do?

I offer everything from traditional family style, to couples/engagement, to lifestyle. newborn, to

documentary (aka, invite me into your home and i will get creative with your every day!) I also

love agricultural photography and can create marketing content as well. Don't see what you’re

looking for here? Shoot me a message and lets chat!

7. How will you deliver my photos?

Galleries are delivered via Pixieset. You will receive an e mail containing the link to your gallery,

along with a password for the gallery and the download PIN. You should be able to download

single photos, or the entire gallery from there. Feel free to share the link and details with

whomever you would like, and print whatever you want!

9. Do you offer prints?

At this time, I do not. However, this may be something I look at getting into in the future. To

ensure high quality prints, I would avoid using places like Costco, Walmart and the grocery

store kiosks to print your photos. While the prices may be tempting, you will get what you pay

for in terms of image quality and colour. A huge part of my editing process is working with

colour and I would highly recommend in investing in high quality prints from somewhere like

Pikto or Mpix. For canvases I have had great results with Canvas on Demand. If for some

reason the sizing of your images won't work for the print size you would like to do, I would be

happy to work with you to resize the particular image you are looking to print. Happy memory making!!

11. Will my photos be posted on social media?

I NEVER post photos from a session without your permission. If I am lucky enough to share

what we captured, I don't tag the photos so they remain anonymous. However, you are more

than welcome to tag your own photos and share them as well. If you are alright with me

sharing on my Instagram (@dayslikethisphotos), I will tag the photo with your username if you

are on Instagram so you are aware that I posted it.

13. Do you have gift certificates?

First of all- what an awesome gift! Secondly, of course! I would be happy to work with you to

create something personal and printable so that you may gift it.

15. I have more questions. How do I get a hold of you?

Please shoot me a message on here or e mail me at caitey@dayslikethisphotos.com- I would

love to hear from you!

16. What are your favourite shoots?

I LOVE documentary shoots. Basically, the shoots where I follow you around and capture those

candid in between moments. Nothing posed. Nothing scripted. Just the little things that you

don't want to forget. The way your child snuggles his favourite stuffy. Or twirls their hair while

reading a book. Or the way their faces light up when you enter a room. These are the moments

I love. But most importantly, I love meeting new people and make memories out of your

moments. May it be an engagement, a new baby, preserving your family in a more formal

portrait or a more documentary style shoot.

2. The weather sucks. Can I reschedule?

Of course! I would be happy to work with you to find the right scenario for you. If you/your

children are uncomfortable (i.e. It's pouring rain) that won't translate well on camera and this

should be a fun experience! That being said, I'm always up for an adventure!

4. What is the ideal timing for photo sessions?

Typically, one hour before sunset is ideal for an outdoor session. This obviously varies season

to season, and I can work with you to find timing that works for you. Indoor sessions can be done any time.

6. Styling~ What should I wear?
I get lots of questions in regards to what should you wear for

your session. I always say, first and foremost, you should be comfortable. If you are not

comfortable in what you are wearing, this will translate to your photos and that's not a great

place to start! Try to avoid too many patterns, and if you are going the plaid route, try to have

one family member in plaid and pull solid colours from that plaid for everyone else. Contrary to

popular belief, white shirts do not necessarily photograph well. There are tons of palette options

on Pinterest, and if you need more direction please do not hesitate to get in touch! If all else

fails, just avoid neon at all costs haha!

8. Session Flow~ How will my session work?
I try to get all the more formal portraits (if that's

what you are looking for!) done right off the bat! Kids are generally still wary enough of me that

they will sit still at this point. If we are doing an extended family session, it may be helpful to

either message me with all the required shots ahead of time, or come prepared with a list of the

various combinations. Once we get the formal stuff out of the way, let's have fun, and move!

Movement creates great photos and I am all for playing games, tickle fights, cuddles etc. You

guys have fun and enjoy the moment and I will be your personal paparazzi. I may direct you

here and there if I think one angle etc may be better than the other but I try to let the sessions

flow as naturally as possible. One more hint... bring snacks! Especially for the under 5 crowd.

And don't worry if your toddler/husband is not feeling it. I will try to make it as painless and fun

as possible and at the end of the day i just need 1/4000 of a second to capture a smile! We will make it work!

10. I have a location I love but it's over an hour from you? Is that ok?

Yes! I love exploring new locations, especially ones you feel at home in. Your farm, your home,

a nature trail, downtown etc. Depending on how far, there may be a travel fee applied (flat rate of $25)

12. I'm so excited to see my pictures! When will they be ready?

I'm so excited to share your pictures! All hour long+ sessions will receive a few sneak peak

photos within 2-3 days of your session (sometimes earlier!) These are photos selected at

random- I usually try to grab a few from throughout the session with a few different subjects/

locations. My goal for turnaround time on your whole file is 2-3 weeks and everything is edited

in chronological order from when I took the photos. HOWEVER when my schedule is really

busy I.e. The fall, turnaround time will be a little longer as I am juggling numerous shoots,

editing, kids, the farm, and a husband who is VERY busy during harvest time. (Which just

happens to coincide with busy photography time!) I am also a bit of a perfectionist, and don't

want to rush your photos! That being said, if you need images sooner than that (ordering

Christmas cards, gifts etc etc) please let me know and I would be happy to work with you!

14. What is your editing style?

I love pictures that tell a story. I treat each photo like artwork. I love using light in various ways

to create drama in my images. When editing I tend to gravitate towards vibrant colours, deep

contrast, lots of mood and I love a really awesome black and white portrait when it seems

appropriate. But that doesn't necessarily work for all images, so I will do a more vintage vibe

on some, or a bright and airy feeling on another. And I will take the season into accountwarmer

tones in the fall, cooler in the winter, etc. (This may also be why it takes me a little while

to edit! But it really is like creating a piece of art)
